Launch Collection Lookbook '19
This is it, our very first collection of tees. Batch no. 1 is meant to encompass the traits of who we are: passionate, bold, creative and outspoken. We launch the brand with three humble designs inspired by our roots in Hong Kong's street culture and skateboarding scene.
We spent months researching different fabrics to use and which print method would best suit the designs. During the process, we had to take a step back to focus on getting the quality right rather than rushing through. Every detail, every thread was thought out to bring out something we’re proud to release to the public.
We’ve decided to take the shoot to Pelota Skatepark in Manila, one of our old stomping grounds. Behind the lens was Mari Torres, content creator at WIP Caps, and skateboard photographer Maui Hidalgo, known for his work at Blunt Magazine. We’ve known them both for over a decade now, and thought it would be nice to work with familiar faces and keep the work in the family. The skaters in action were Prince Manalang and Dome Jon Plaza. It’s amazing to see the level that the younger dudes are skating these days. Miles apart from the way we were doing it at their age.
Part of the reason we built Gahyao was to bring back the nostalgia of kicking it with the homies, the session was a great start to our campaign, it was organic and everything fell into place.
One aspect that stays consistent throughout this collection is the Gahyao logo on the left chest, there to remind us to Keep Pushing Forward.
